Vitamin K is great for athletes and those with an active lifestyle, as it helps with:
Bone health & density: Vitamin K helps to maintain your body’s levels of the calcium-binding proteins known as osteocalcin and MGP. Studies have also shown that vitamin K can reduce the severity of bone fractures, and can even protect you from the onset of osteoporosis.
Blood clotting: Vitamin K plays an important role in the proper clotting of the blood, by helping to manufacture essential clotting factors like prothrombin.
Heart health: Vitamin K prevents calcium deposits from forming on your artery walls, which can lead to hypertension and heart failure. By keeping your veins and arteries elastic and healthy, vitamin K protects your heart.
Please Note: There are 2 main forms of vitamin K, namely K1 (Phylloquinone) and K2 (Phytonadione). K1 is naturally found in leafy greens, while K2 is found in fermented foods. Your body also has a natural ability to convert vitamin K1 to K2.
All vitamin K supplements currently available have been subjected to some form of animal testing. For this reason, ethical companies like Viridian only use K1 and adjust levels to meet your supplemental needs.
