Minton & Donello Maize Meal Coarse, also known as corn meal, is one of the three grade of texture, the others being medium and fine maize meal. Unlike fine maize meal, coarse maize includes the husk of the corn as well as the kernels, so it retains more flavour and nutrients. Corn meal is naturally gluten free, which makes it the perfect replacement for wheat flour. This means it is less suitable for fine baked goods like cakes, but it is superb for making items like cornbread, muffins, biscuits and breaded items.
